Maureen Gillespie

Camp Co-Director

Hi, I’m Maureen! I’m the Saint Thomas Aquinas cross country coach and owner of Harrier & Hounds Distance Coaching. My passion for running started when I was 12 years old as a 7th grader competing in cross country and track. I now have 23 years of experience and have raced every distance from the mile to 100 miles! In my non-running life, I’m a professor of psychology at the University of New Hampshire and the caretaker of four adorable rescue pets.

Alex Shaffer

Camp Co-Director

Hi, I’m Alex! I grew up playing hockey, soccer, tennis, and lacrosse. After college, I coached hockey throughout the Seacoast, including work with Berwick Academy and Dover Youth Hockey. During this time I also discovered running, and then endurance running. Since then my passion for the sport has really blossomed and I’ve competed in every distance from 5k to 100 miles. Each event has exposed me to some truly unforgettable people, places, and experiences, and I’m excited to share my love of running and athletics with our campers. When I’m not on the trails, you’ll find me operating my own marketing business - Andercat

The Guest Speakers

This is one of the most exciting and unique pieces of B.A.S.E. XCamp. Each week, campers will have a chance to hear from local or semi-local running industry experts, entrepreneurs, ambassadors, and/or athletes. We’ve carefully curated this line-up so that campers will have a chance to learn about a variety of topics, including discussions about race strategy, hill running technique, injury prevention, nutrition, pursuing collegiate opportunities, creating meaningful careers, and much more. Each guest speaker is slated for approximately 30-minutes, and more details on each speaker and what to expect each day will be shared as that session approaches.

If you’d like to get involved as a guest speaker, please email the directors.
